10G SFP+ Series
The 10G SFP+ series is the largest 10G family in this catalogue, with eleven published titles beyond the fully specified SR model: SFP+ LR, SFP+ BIDI LR, SFP+ Copper 30m, SFP+ BIDI ER, SFP+ BIDI 60km, SFP+ BIDI ZR, SFP+ 1310nm 40km, SFP+ ZR, SFP+ 120KM, SFP+ CWDM and SFP+ DWDM. Those titles are listed here at series level. Their names are published, but no performance figures have been published for them on this site, and none are invented here. The names themselves describe families — bidirectional variants, wavelength-division variants and copper variants — but a name is not a specification, and this site does not treat it as one.
The SFP+ format is the standard 10G pluggable format, and its strength is interchangeability. An SFP+ slot accepts any SFP+ module, so a network can mix short-reach multimode modules, long-reach single-mode modules, bidirectional modules and copper modules in the same switch, choosing per port rather than per switch. That flexibility is what makes the series useful: the buyer decides port by port, link by link, and the spares holding can be built around the handful of variants actually deployed rather than the whole catalogue.
The fully specified model in this series is the SFP+ SR, whose detail page states a 10G rate, an 850nm wavelength, a 300m reach over multimode fiber with an LC connector, a 2000MHz/km fiber bandwidth rating, and the IEEE 802.3ae 10GBASE-SR and SFF-8431 standards. Those figures belong to the SR model alone. They are not shared with the LR, BIDI, CWDM, DWDM or copper titles in this series, and a buyer who needs figures for one of those titles should ask for them during the inquiry, stating the title by name and the link it will serve.
Bidirectional variants deserve a short explanation, because they are often misunderstood. A bidirectional module sends and receives over a single fiber strand, using different wavelengths in each direction, where a standard module uses a pair of strands. That halves the fiber needed for a link, which matters where fiber strands are scarce or where a single-strand plant is already installed. Whether a given link can use a bidirectional module depends on the plant and on the module at the other end, and both ends must match, so a buyer should state both ends during the inquiry.
Before ordering, confirm quantity, price and delivery time during the inquiry. Certificates are available upon request. If you need figures for a title in this series that has no detail page, state the title, the fiber type and the link length.
