100G QSFP28 Series

The 100G QSFP28 series is the highest-speed family in this catalogue. Its published titles are the QSFP28 LR4, QSFP28 SR4, QSFP28 ER4 and QSFP28 ZR4 transceivers, together with QSFP28 cables and QSFP28 breakout options. Of those titles, only the LR4 model carries a full published specification sheet, and it has its own detail page. The SR4, ER4 and ZR4 titles are listed here at series level: their names are published, but no performance figures have been published for them on this site, and none are invented here.

A QSFP28 module delivers 100G through four lanes running in parallel, and that construction is what makes the format practical at density. One port, one connector, 100G. The same construction also makes breakout possible: a QSFP28 port can be broken out into four lower-speed connections where a mixed-speed design is needed, and the QSFP28 breakout guide on this site explains that option. Buyers planning a 100G deployment should start from the link rather than the module: the distance, the fiber type already installed, and the equipment at each end decide which variant of the family fits.

The fully specified model in this series is the QSFP28 LR4, whose detail page states a 100G rate, a 1310nm wavelength, 10km and 20km reach options over single-mode fiber, 103.1Gb/s aggregate bandwidth, power consumption below 3.5W and a 0 to 70 degree Celsius operating range. Those figures belong to the LR4 model alone. They are not shared with the SR4, ER4 or ZR4 titles in this series, and a buyer who needs figures for one of those titles should ask for them during the inquiry rather than assume they match the LR4.

The cable side of the series matters as much as the modules. QSFP28 cables, including direct attach options, connect switches within a rack or between adjacent racks where fiber is unnecessary, and the QSFP28 cable and DAC pages on this site cover those options. A buyer designing a 100G row should plan the module links and the cable links together, because the two have different reach limits and different cost profiles, and the wrong split between them wastes budget in either direction.

Before ordering, confirm quantity, price and delivery time during the inquiry. Certificates are available upon request. If you need figures for a title in this series that has no detail page, state the title and the link it will serve, and the answer will come from the published specification document for that title.
