1.25G SFP Transceiver Series

The 1.25G SFP transceiver series is the fully specified gigabit line in this catalogue. Its published specification sheet states a rate of 1.25Gbps and a set of wavelength and reach combinations published across the series: 850nm at 550m over multimode fiber; 1310nm at 2km over multimode fiber, 20km over single-mode fiber and 40km over single-mode fiber; and 1550nm at 80km, 100km, 120km and 160km over single-mode fiber. The published models are BT-OC24-01, BT-OC24-02, BT-OC24-20, BT-OC24-40, BT-OC24-60, BT-OC24-80, BT-OC24-100, BT-OC24-120 and BT-OC24-160. The combinations are stated here at series level, because the published material lists them as the series range; which combination a given model carries should be confirmed during the inquiry, and this site does not assign a combination to a model number by guesswork.

The breadth of that range is the point of the series. A gigabit link is not one job but many: a short connection inside a building, a campus link between buildings, a metro link between sites, and a long-haul link between cities all run at the same nominal gigabit rate but need entirely different optics. The short-reach end of the series, at 850nm over multimode fiber, suits in-building connections. The middle of the range, at 1310nm, covers campus and metro distances. The long-reach end, at 1550nm, covers links that run to 160km, where the choice of wavelength and the quality of the fiber plant both become critical.

The distinction between multimode and single-mode options inside one series deserves care. The 850nm option and one 1310nm option run over multimode fiber, and they suit buildings and campuses where multimode plant is already installed. Every other combination in the series runs over single-mode fiber, and those are the options for longer links. A buyer should start from the fiber already in the ground: if it is multimode, only the multimode combinations are available, and the longest of them sets the practical limit; if it is single-mode, the full range is available and the choice becomes a matter of distance and budget.

Distance planning for long links needs more than a headline reach figure. A link stated at 80km or 160km depends on the fiber grade, the number of splices and connectors in the path, and the loss budget of the whole span, not just the module. A buyer planning a long link should state the actual span, the fiber type and the splice count during the inquiry, so the right combination can be confirmed for that specific path rather than assumed from the series range.

The gigabit rate itself is worth a word. A 1.25Gbps module serves gigabit Ethernet and the access and aggregation layers where gigabit remains the standard speed: enterprise access switches, industrial networks, access aggregation and the many installations where the bottleneck is not the link speed but the number of ports or the distance. For those installations, the choice is rarely about speed at all; it is about reach, fiber type and connector compatibility, and this series covers those choices in one family.

On certification, no certification claim is made for this series on this site, because no product-page certification statement has been published for it at a level this site can report. Certificates are available upon request. No prices, minimum order quantities, delivery times or stock figures are stated for this series, because none have been published. Before ordering, confirm quantity, price and delivery time during the inquiry, together with the wavelength and reach combination your link needs and the model that carries it.
